Ontario Shores developed a non-traditional co-design project to partner patients in the writing of their Annual Report. Create an engagement model that will involve patients in non-clinical projects to better meet their needs. Get ideas to:

  • Get creative with the ways you can engage patients
  • Develop an engagement model for your out-of-the-box co-design projects
  • Discover the research behind the impact of patient participation in writing the Annual Report
  • Use co-design as a tool to aid in the recovery of your patients in mental health care

After this presentation, you will be able to:

  • Adopt a co-design framework within a respective organization
  • Apply co-design best practices to new initiatives

From Silence to Trust and Discourse: Case Study: Changing Attitudes on Violence Prevention in Health Care
  • The case study focuses on Prevention of Violence in the Workplace; workplace violence is an international issue in healthcare
  • Changing an internal culture requires extensive internal listening and proof of that listening delivered back to the front line through multiple channels and over a long-term commitment
  • A multi-year campaign was launched with the intent of shifting the internal culture from one of silence about violence in the workplace to one of trust and discourse
  • Goals centred around creating a culture of organizational listening, and bringing staff voices to the forefront
  • Results showed a dramatic shift in organizational culture: dialogue, trust and action to report violence increased significantly. An architecture of listening continues to used throughout the organization
