Sheila Osborne-Brown

Sheila Osborne-Brown is the acting Senior General Counsel and Director General of the Legal Services Branch at the Canadian Human Rights Commission. She has worked at the Commission for over 15 years, as a manager, litigator, and legal advisor. Before joining the Commission, Sheila spent several years in private practice in St. John’s, and subsequently in Los Angeles. Sheila has been involved with the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) throughout her career. She has served as the Chair of the CBA Standing Committee on Professional Development, and as a member of the CBA’s International Initiatives Committee. Sheila is also a former educator and continues to take special interest in lawyers’ professional development. Sheila is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, and also received her LL.M. in European Union Law (Employment) with Distinction, from Leicester University. She has written articles and presented on several legal issues including family status, comparative law (Canada/California), and human rights in the time of a pandemic.
