Melanie McNaught is a partner at Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP, one of one of Canada’s largest and most-highly ranked management-side labour and employment law firms.
Working out of the firm’s Toronto office, Melanie practices in all areas of labour and employment law. She advises clients in both the public and private sector and represents clients at tribunals and all levels of court on all matters related to labour and employment law.
Melanie’s key areas of interest include civil litigation, education law, human rights, and privacy law. Melanie is a co-author of the Canada Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act: Quick Reference, and Ontario Human Rights Code: Quick Reference. She has also contributed to the Employment Litigation Manual and written numerous seminar papers.
In addition to being a member of the Law Society of Ontario, Melanie is a member of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers, and the Education Law, Labour Relations and Privacy Law sections of the Ontario Bar Association.
Melanie received a Bachelor of Journalism with a Minor in Economics from Carleton University in 1999, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Victoria in 2002. She articled at the Ontario Court of Appeal, clerking for O’Connor A.C.J.O., Laskin, Sharpe and Armstrong JJ.A. She then worked at Filion as a law student before joining the firm in 2003 as an associate upon her Call to the Bar. She has been a partner since 2010.
In her spare time, Melanie enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and horseback riding.
