Kathy Popaleni is an experienced Human Resources/Conflict Management Specialist. Kathy’s current role with Grand River Hospital involves building staff capacity, at all levels, for improved communication, collaboration and conflict management. As well, Kathy facilitates early resolution of ongoing disputes and conflict through various methods, including mediation, education, coaching and facilitated dialogues with groups. Kathy’s scope entails working with front line staff to advising senior levels. She conducts investigations of Respectful Workplace/Human Rights complaints and ensures compliance with legislation.
Kathy has worked previously as an Independent Complaint Facilitator for the Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres. Formerly, Kathy ran a boutique workplace consultancy and training company for mid-to-large companies in the areas of respectful workplace environments, work disputes and conflict management.
In the community, Kathy has previously volunteered as a Lead Mediator with Community Justice Initiatives and was a Panel Member on the Youth Justice Committee for the Ministry of the Attorney General.
Kathy holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Toronto at OISE. She holds a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Mohawk College and is currently completing a Certificate in Conflict Management and Mediation from the University of Waterloo.
