Debbie Boswell is a skilled lawyer who practices in our dispute resolution and advocacy (civil litigation), appeals, and health law practice groups. She was a former judicial clerk at both the Court of Appeal for Ontario and then at the Supreme Court of Canada.

Debbie joined Lerners after starting her legal career at a leading international law firm in Manhattan, New York. She regularly assists institutions (including in the municipal and education sectors) and professionals with labour and employment matters, human rights matters, litigation, and professional regulation. She provides advice and assistance on a range of issues pertaining to labour and employment, including labour relations, employment disputes, policy development and application, and human rights.

Debbie is also one of our certified workplace investigators, where she applies those same judicial instincts to investigating and adjudicating employment related complaints.

Debbie is the 2025 recipient of the Middlesex Law Association’s Rising Star Award. She has also been recognized by her peers in the “Best Lawyers – Ones to Watch” awards in Appellate Practice and Health Care Law. She graduated with the prestigious Governor General’s Academic Medals (Bronze and Silver) for highest academic achievement at the secondary school and undergraduate levels, and received multiple awards for academic achievement at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. She is called to the bar in both Ontario and New York.
