Recognized as best practice by Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship Canada, those efforts led to funding in 2019 for CHEO to develop and host the National Newcomer Navigation Network (N4), a pan-Canadian network for the diversity of providers who assist newcomers in navigating the complex health and social service systems. N4 provide opportunities for professions to connect, learn and collaborate around best practices in the field of newcomer navigation, with the ultimate goal of improving the health and well-being of newcomers to Canada. In 2022, N4’s mandate was enlarged from addressing inequities of newcomers as patients in healthcare, to also address barriers for internationally educated health professionals in being employed in Canada. N4’s network includes over 1100 members from over 300 organizations.
