In this role, Dr. Lianne Jeffs is responsible for establishing a strategic roadmap to advance the Science of Care by evolving nursing and health discipline scholarship and innovation across Sinai Health. She also is a Senior Clinician Scientist with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute and continues to evolve her research program that advances all dimensions of our Science of Care research and innovation platform. This includes generating new discoveries and innovations in models of care, care transitions, patient safety, quality improvement, and person-centred care. This work includes studying building capacity and capabilities using integrated improvement, safety, implementation science and innovation design thinking approaches in collective learning spaces.
Dr. Jeffs has extensive leadership experience and an impressive track record in clinical and health services research with a focus on quality improvement and patient safety. She has published over 125 peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals and has secured over $10 million in funding as principal and co-investigator.
She currently holds an Associate Professor status with the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing and the Institute of Health Policy Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. She has also held a variety of leadership positions in policy and research that has included the development of evaluation frameworks and performance measures to evaluate impact of new models of care and interventions. Dr. Jeffs has received several awards in recognition of her expertise and influence including most recently the 2021 Sigma Theta Tau International Lambda Pi Chapter Award for Excellence in Nursing Leadership. She was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurses (2015) and inaugural Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Nurses (2020) and received a Rising Star Award from the CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research in 2010.
She also has an extensive volunteer experience including serving on community agencies and hospitals Board of Directors.
