Laura Owl has fifteen plus years of experience in First Nations governance and administration and worked within her own community of the Sagamok Anishnawbek for 14 years in various capacities including the position Director of Planning and Technical Services and the Director of Operations. Laura has worked across a number of sectors and has a strong background in community engagement, strategic planning, as well fiscal and quality management.

Today Laura is employed by Z’gamok Enterprises Inc. as the Director of Special Projects, where she manages the impact and benefit agreements between Sagamok Anishnawbek and mining companies. In this position, she has worked to create partnerships, contracting and employment opportunities across various resource development sectors and is constantly seeking out and looking for new and innovative projects for Z’gamok Enterprises Inc. to become involved in.

Laura earned her BA from Laurentian University in 2004 and completed her Masters in Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship with Queens University in 2018. Laura represents the interest of Indigenous people on a number of boards and committees and is a part of the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce PEP Planning Committee and the GSCC Team Greater Sudbury.

Laura resides in Sagamok Anishnawbek with her husband and son.
